The Romanesque Route

Fans of history, culture and art are sure to love the Romanesque Route, which is without a doubt the most fascinating and also one of the oldest scenic routes in Germany. The route is comprised of two loops extending through the local region and further afield, guiding visitors past the region’s churches, monuments, castles and palaces before intersecting in Magdeburg, between the city’s Gothic cathedral and Romanesque Monastery of Our Lady. The Magdeburg-Elbe-Börde-Heide region alone is home to an impressive total of 28 treasures along the Romanesque Route.
